Spider-Man: No Way Home opens right where Spider-Man: Far From Home left off with the reveal of the web-slinger’s secret identity to the whole world thanks to Mysterio and J. Jonah Jameson. What follows is the immediate implosion of Peter Parker’s entire life.
In our Spider-Man: No Way Home review, IGN’s Amelia Emberwing said the film “hits all the right notes as the MCU’s latest entry. Its impact on the universe as a whole, as well as the overall emotional beats, all feel earned. Stellar performances meet what feels like a Saturday morning cartoon rife with all the devastating punches we’ve come to expect from this sneaky universe.”
Like all MCU movies, Spider-Man: No Way Home left us with plenty of burning questions about its plot and where the Spider-Man franchise could go next – that is if Tom Holland returns for Spider-Man 4. While Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has suggested Holland would return for another three films, Holland, 25, has said he doesn’t want to play Spidey beyond age 30.
Should a Spider-Man 4 happen and Holland returns, he’d like to see Peter reunite with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock for a proper Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up. (Hopefully, Cox won’t have to eat his lunch facing the wall next time around.) And what of the Venom cameo and that character’s future in the MCU? Even the writers of No Way Home can’t answer that.
With roughly $1.9 billion in worldwide box office sales to date, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the sixth highest-grossing film of all time (not adjusted for inflation). And while No Way Home was largely snubbed by the Oscars, it is up for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Will No Way Home emerge victorious in a category that sees it going up against the likes of Dune? We’ll know when the Oscar winners are announced on March 27.
