First Madame Web Trailer Reveals All-Female Spider-Heroes, Spider-Man-Like Villain

Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the debut trailer for upcoming superhero movie Madame Web.

Madame Web, due to hit theaters February 16, 2024, is connected to the Spider-Man cinematic universe, although it’s described as a “standalone origin story”. Madame Web is a mutant with clairvoyant powers who has been associated with various Spider-Women in the comics. The movie is set before Madame Web is in the wheelchair she uses in the comics.

Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson helms Sony’s first female-led Marvel movie, with Dakota Johnson starring as the title character, and Sydney Sweeney playing Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman.

The trailer reveals the team-up, as well as the villain, Ezekiel “Zeke” Sims. We see Madame Web appear to redo a fight after a defeat she has seen ahead of time with her clairvoyant powers.

Here’s the synopsis:

“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.”
